For the information in the route planner MyRoute-app depends on the information from the different map makers. Not every map recognizes the same roads and sometimes it seems as if the ferry or bridge you used yesterday does not exist for the route planner. Then, of course, you don't want your navigation system to divert you and that's why we have a trick to navigate these so-called closed roads after all.
The image above is a clear example that a ferry, which is still in use, is not recognized by the map. The route sends you on a big diversion. Sometimes it already helps to place the waypoints closer to the ferry, at the entrance and exit of the ferry for example. Sometimes, however, this is still not enough. Then you can solve the problem as follows:
- Place a waypoint at the beginning of the ferry/enclosure;
- Place a waypoint at the end of the ferry/barrier.
- Select the last waypoint, you will now get the options of this waypoint;
- Select 'More options' (the icon with the three dots);
- Select the option 'Skip'.
A straight line will appear between the two waypoints because this one waypoint is made a sort of 'off-road'. This means that this waypoint is listed as a point where no route calculation on the road is necessary, you will only be pointed in the right direction. You could also say that the route pauses, as it were, while you are travelling between the two waypoints and navigation and route calculation will continue when you arrive at the next point.
Tips&Tricks
- Sometimes it still does not want to look quite right. Often it helps to put the waypoints even closer to the ferry or closure. As you can see in the example, the waypoints are as close as possible. It can also help not to have the other waypoints too far away. For example, in the example, make sure that waypoint four is already in the village, preferably on the main road over which you need to drive. Sometimes skipping is not even necessary.
